Taylor In Court For Fraud

Sounds strange for a man who is according to his own website is a very successful business man. A person who has established dozens of successful businesses for other people. However court records do not tend to lie.

A Shropshire man pleaded guilty to housing benefit and council tax benefit offences at Shrewsbury Magistrates Court on Friday 2 December 2011.

Karl Taylor of Barber Close, Oswestry, claimed housing benefit and council tax benefit but failed to tell Shropshire Council that he had a change in income. This meant that, between 1 February 2010 and 6 March 2011, he received £4,423.50 housing benefit and £1,304.95 council tax benefit that he was not entitled to.

The court sentenced him to 150 hours unpaid work, and ordered him to pay £200 costs to Shropshire Council.

In other words he has been legally convicted as a fraudster.

Would you want to buy a business from someone who has been proven to lie to people to get money from them?  This was not just a little white lie but a lie which has cost us as tax-payers over £5,700 pounds.

When his website was showing his major earnings were at an all time high with, (we understand over 35 people each paid him several thousand pounds) he was claiming housing benefit and council tax because his income was so low.

When was Karl Taylor telling the truth? When he published on his website that he was able to generate cleaning contracts for us all and taking money for doing it? Or was it when he went to the local council housing department and said his earnings were very low?

Maybe he was lying to both the local council officers and us as cleaning business owners.

Again I can tell you that the police are still investigating a number of cases in which Taylor has taken money  from cleaning companies in exchange for non-existing contracts. We need to see justice acting. Not just a couple of hours community service in exchange for our hard earned money and the sooner the better.

Latest update  January 2013

 On 14th January 2013 Karl TAYLOR was charged with 4 x separate accounts of ‘Fraud by False Representation’ covering a total of 36 offences between 2009 and 2011. He is currently bailed to Shrewsbury Magistrates Court at 09:30hrs on 28th January 2013. 

This court appearance will be for a Plea hearing only before being referred to Shrewsbury Crown Court.

It is good that our readers have been able to see the police are taking action.  As it will be his second conviction for fraud (the other was for housing benefit fraud click for more details). Whilst the judge may not be able to put his black cap on before sentencing any more we want to see the punishment reflect the seriousness of the crime in stealing money from so many people over the three year period.
